Overview
Irwin Run is located along Babcock Boulevard in Pine Township. The conservation area comprises approximately 73 acres adjacent to North Park, helping to buffer the park, connect the green spaces, and protect the beneficial wetlands, densely wooded slopes, and stream valley.
Hunting at Irwin Run is managed by the Whitetail Management Associates. Contact bohunter28@comcast.net for more information. We ask that hunters read our Hunting Policy, and apply for a free permit before hunting on any conservation area.
Background
The 1995 Allegheny County Greenway Plan identifies the valley in which this property lies as a proposed “Conservation Corridor.” North Park Lake is a Biological Diversity Area (BDA) as defined by the Allegheny County Natural Heritage Inventory. Approximately 1/2 mile of stream flows through the property that is surrounded by dense woodlands, wetlands, and floodplain providing natural stormwater management and water filtration.
