Overview
Audubon Greenway is a classic Western Pennsylvania landscape full of fields with rolling hills, mature oak groves, and beautiful waterways. The green space also encompasses the headwaters of Little Sewickley Creek.
Miles of trails exist on the property that connect to adjacent parks including the Sewickley Hills Borough and Sewickley Heights Borough parks. Hikers, bikers, birders, and equestrians use the trails regularly, and the ALT stewardship team is always looking for volunteers to help maintain the trails.
Hunting on Parcels III and IV is managed by the Whitetail Management Associates. Contact bohunter281@gmail.com for more information. Restricted Hunting is permitted on Parcels I and II. We ask that hunters read our Hunting Policy to learn more, and to apply for a free permit before hunting on any Conservation Area.
Background
Tracts acquired by ALT between 2003 and 2014 make up the land that is now Audubon Greenway. The first piece of property acquired for the greenway was zoned for single and multi-family housing sites that, if constructed, would have destabilized the steep and moist, wooded slopes, disturbed spring seeps, and degraded the water quality of Little Sewickley Creek via erosion. The most recent parcel acquired by ALT in 2014 was made possible by local fundraising and added 48 acres of rolling landscape to this green space.
The historic Sewickley Hunt can be seen using the trails.

The Sewickley Hunt
Founded in 1922 by Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Burgwin, the Sewickley Hunt is the thirty sixth oldest active hunt in the United States. According to the first fixture card published for the 1926-1927 hunting season, the “purpose of the Sewickley Hunt is to encourage interest in hunting in the Sewickley vicinity, and to establish and maintain a place for the raising, care and training of a pack of foxhounds.” The Sewickley Hunt was founded as a drag hunt, meaning that the hounds chase the scent of the fox rather than the real thing.
