Help ALT restore forest by harvesting live stakes for planting
Registration is required so that we can communicate in case of any necessary changes.
Join ALT to harvest live stakes, living branches of dormant trees and shrubs, to prepare for planting at Girty’s Woods. Volunteers will use loppers and pruners to cut live stakes from trees and shrubs and store in buckets of water. We’ll be seeking out specific plant species, which have been identified using iNaturalist and exploring the conservation space to see what else is available for harvesting.
Tools and gloves will be provided, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own gear as well. Waders or muck boots are recommended for those who’d like to get those hard-to-reach water-loving plants.
Closed toe shoes and long pants are required. Volunteers are asked to work within their comfort and ability and should expect to walk up to three miles on varied terrain.
