Why Conserve Land
Allegheny Land Trust was founded in 1993 following a county-wide survey that revealed community members’ desire to preserve our natural environment.
To this day, Allegheny County continues to lose 2,000 acres of green space to sprawling development every year. With a region experiencing a flat population growth rate at best, this development rate is fast outpacing our needs at the expense of one our region’s most critical assets: its close-to-home green space.
