Invasive Plant Workday at Churchill Valley Greenway

April 24 @ 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Invasive Plant Management Is A Team Effort!

Registration is required so we can communicate in case of any necessary changes.

In advance of our upcoming Earth Day cleanup event, volunteers are encouraged to join us for an afternoon of invasive plant management. We’ll be targeting particular plant species which reproduce and spread by layering and suckering. These are the plants that need to be fully removed from the site and added to our dumpster! Volunteers will be provided with gloves, tools, and a brief review of plant ID in order to effectively target these key invasive plants.

Participants will use shovels, loppers, handsaws, and weed wrenches to remove multiflora rose and border privet. Long pants and close-toed shoes are required. Long sleeves and brimmed hats are encouraged to protect against poison ivy and ticks. Expect to hike up to one mile on a variety of trail surfaces. Please work within your own ability.

There are no restrooms on site. Please bring a reuseable water bottle. Children are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.

Love our work? Consider adding a donation to your registration to support our stewardship efforts to maintain and improve lands throughout the region.
