SUMMARY:eDNA Mushroom Walk at Audubon Greenway
DESCRIPTION:Join ALT staff and Western PA Mushroom Club Identifiers and Mycologists in collecting eDNA for research! eDNA\, or environmental DNA\, is a way for us to learn about the fungus that resides in the soil that may never produce a fruiting body\, aka a mushroom. Recently\, WPMC received a grant to complete sampling and eDNA work around the region to learn more about the fungus growing beneath our feet. \nThis will not be a traditional guided hike. After the eDNA portion\, attendees will be off on their own to search for fungi and slime molds to bring back to an identification table at the end. We’ll then learn about the fascinating fungi that everyone found! \nHike runs rain or shine\, NO WALK INS will be permitted. \nWe will not be foraging on this hike or discussing edibility. Foraging for mushrooms can be risky\,and it is never safe to eat a wild mushroom unless an expert confirms the identity. \nTICKETS
