SUMMARY:Volunteer Workday: Girty's Woods Trail Blazing
DESCRIPTION:Paint your way through Girty’s Woods\n  \n\nMile by mile\, volunteers have been building and maintaining Girty’s Woods’ network of hiking trails. It’s time to paint! Volunteers will hike together painting blazes on trees and install painted stakes in areas where there aren’t ideal trees to blaze. We need folks who are willing and able to work as a team and carry heavy wooden stakes through the woods for up to five miles. Together\, we’ll ensure that explorers stay the course in Girty’s Woods. \nRegistration is required to participate\, and volunteers must arrive on time. Long pants and close-toed shoes are required. Long sleeves and a hat are recommended to protect from sun and bugs. Tools and gloves will be provided\, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own gear if they prefer. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nWater and light snacks will be available. Please bring a full water bottle and consider packing a picnic to make a day of it! \nRegistrants will receive a follow-up email with more details. \n  \nRegistration

Join Laurel Riley\, recent Arizona State University graduate\, working Horticulturist\, and aspiring Botanist on a guided hike to learn about moss diversity and ecological roles!\nThis hike is a bit longer than our usual excursions and may utilize Cool Spirits\, Haunted Hollow\, and Table Rock trail systems. DESCRIPTION:Join ALT staff and WPMC Identifiers\, Julie Travaglini and Sara Klingensmith\, for a beginner’s mushroom walk at Barking Slopes\, as part of the Outdoor Inclusion Coalition’s TRY IT! Series. This is not a traditional guided hike. After an introduction\, participants will search for our fungal friends to collect for a beginner friendly identification table at the end of the program. \nHike runs rain or shine. NO WALK-INS will be permitted. We will not be foraging on this hike or discussing edibility. Foraging for mushrooms can be risky and it is never safe to eat a wild mushroom unless an expert confirms the identity. \nTICKETS
