SUMMARY:The Big Mushroom Hike
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate National Trails Day by going on a long\, scenic mushroom walk! Join ALT staff and WPMC Identifier Sara Klingensmith on an excursion to uncover the Hollow’s hidden Kingdom of fungi. This guided hike is approximately 4 miles long and we’ll be on the Cool Spirits\, Haunted Hollow\, and Table Rock trails. The terrain is considered moderate/strenuous with steep hills along the route. \nBring snacks\, water bottle\, and a sturdy pair of hiking shoes. Trekking poles are recommended. We’ll take breaks along the way to admire the fungal diversity while learning how to identify mushrooms. Hike runs rain or shine\, NO WALK INS will be permitted.This hike is not recommended for kids. \nWe will not be foraging on this hike or discussing edibility. Foraging for mushrooms can be risky and it is never safe to eat a wild mushroom unless an expert confirms the identity. \n  \nTICKETS

We’ll then learn about the fascinating fungi that everyone found! \nHike runs rain or shine\, NO WALK INS will be permitted. Please pull through the first gravel lot and park in the second lot closer to the trails and the kiosk. \nWe will not be foraging on this hike or discussing edibility.
