Summer Steward Training: Trails & Cautionary Tales
June 20 @ 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Open to all interested in becoming an ALT steward or experienced volunteers, this training will equip attendees with the resources and knowledge to work as an independent volunteer steward at any of our Conservation Areas located throughout Allegheny County.
The first hour of training will be a general orientation for all new Stewards, followed by a focused workshop. The Summer workshop cover potential dangers of working outdoors – creatures, climate, and common sense. It will also include an introduction to sustainable trail building and maintenance.
Wear appropriate footwear and outerwear. We will work rain or shine but will reschedule if thunderstorms are expected. Activities may involve climbing over various surfaces, including wet and muddy areas. Attendees are asked to work at their own ability. Water, snacks, and tools provided. Please bring your own reusable water bottle if possible.
