Birds, Blooms and ‘Shrooms: BioBlitz Workshop
April 15 @ 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
7:45 AM Check-in
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Workshop
The colors and sounds of spring are an unmistakable relief to Pennsylvania’s winters. So many recognize the birds returning to the feeder and the smell of spring flowers on the wind; but how many of us can actually identify those birds and flowers that we yearn for so much during winter? Join us as we learn how to identify the birds, flowers and even mushrooms of spring in preparation for the BioBlitz next weekend. We’ll hear from experts about how to identify a variety of spring flora and fauna, how to use citizen science platforms like Project BudBurst, iNaturalist and eBird and to bring hands-on activities into your classroom. This workshop will be great for formal, non-formal and pre-service educators as well as community leaders and interested adults who want to become part of the citizen science movement.
NOTES: This program has been moved from the original date of 4/22 to 4/15 in order to not conflict with the March for Science
