2017 Day of Giving
We need your help. Please mark your calendar, tell a friend, and consider giving for green space on September 14, 2017.
For the third consecutive year, your gift can go twice as far during our self-hosted Day of Giving. ALT’s Board of Directors has again generously agreed to match Day of Giving donations dollar-for-dollar.
This means that your gift goes twice as far in helping us to protect more land, maintain our green spaces, and educate more communities. Your support during last year’s Day of Giving, our Membership Initiative, and year-long giving has continued and expanded our programming.
Over the past year,
Our new Environmental Education Team has bolstered its efforts by developing unique curriculum based upon your interests, expanding programs for all ages, and hiring more trained teaching staff.
ALT’s Stewardship Team has added more miles of trail to two conservation areas with the help of Landforce, volunteers, and your dollars; developed and begun implementing a management plan at Barking Slopes; and continued to make habitat improvements at two conservation areas to promote understory forest growth.
The Land Protection Team has continued traditional land trust conservation efforts, seeking and adding new easement, farm, and conservation area projects, and has expanded to working on protecting urban lots through an innovative Transfer of Development Rights initiative.
We’re also making strides in using our expertise to protect urban agriculture and reduce food insecurity throughout our region.
Supporters like you have helped make all of this happen through donations, volunteer activities, advocacy, community awareness efforts, and membership.
Help us continue to improve the quality of life for all in the Pittsburgh region by donating during our Day of Giving.
p.s. did you know we now have a conservation area within 12 miles of every Allegheny County resident? Find one near you!
